Supporting Well-being and Mental Health at the UCL Academy

Student well-being and mental health is vital to ensuring healthy, happy and successful young people. The UCL Academy has a range of resources, information and support in school to ensure that the mental and emotional health of all students is supported. All staff are here to support students well-being and mental health.

There are often moments that we need to seek support. Ignoring your feelings and not speaking about it isn’t going to help you feel better. We want to share with you where you can get well-being and mental health support at the Academy:

YOUR TUTOR: The member of staff that probably knows you best of all. You see them every day. Let them know you’re not feeling your best or arrange to meet with them and discuss your worries. They can help and point you in the right direction.

YOUR FRIENDS: You really aren’t alone here and sometimes we forget that our friends are good people to speak to when we have worries. They can listen and offer support or advice.  They might even help you speak to a teacher about it.

YOUR LEVEL LEAD: Another person who can help you with any well-being, mental health or safeguarding need. They are always there for your pastoral support. Speak to them and they will be able to offer support, guidance and advice.

THE ACADEMY SAFEGUARDING TEAM: Whoever it is you seek advice and support from, we are here to keep you safe. You can speak to the Safeguarding Team at any time. Mr Bowen, Mr White and Miss Geraghty are available for a discussion at any time.
