Working at The UCL Academy
Thank you for your interest in working at The UCL Academy. We are pleased to have this opportunity to give you some details about our school and to describe the kind of person we look to appoint.
The Academy opened in the autumn term of 2012 with 180 students in Year 7 and 125 students in Year 12. We were the first Academy school in the country to have a university, University College London, as its sole sponsor. We reached our full capacity of 1150 students by the Autumn term of 2016. With our first set of ‘A’ Level results in August 2014, we are the second highest performing school in Camden for attainment and value added and around 60% of our A-level students go on on to study at Russell Group universities. For GCSE, progress is within the top 30% of schools nationally, and a particular strength is a rate of achievement among disadvantaged students significantly above the national average.
Working with our sponsor UCL, we have built an inspiring Academy which supports young people to develop as learners, and as ‘whole people’. The UCL Academy is an exciting, stimulating place to learn, with a curriculum which focuses on problem-solving, skills development and ‘real world’ issues. Our core aim is to provide the highest quality teaching in a first-rate learning environment, encouraging all students to be happy and to strive to be the very best.
We have exciting opportunities for outstanding, ambitious teachers who are seeking to demonstrate that they are inspirational role models for research-informed teaching, lifelong learning, a commitment to the education of the whole person and education for the common good.
Successful candidates will work alongside senior staff, the sponsor and governors to shape a new curriculum and to lead the development of outstanding practice in teaching and learning.
So if you are a teacher with passion, expertise and vision we offer an opportunity to work in partnership with one of the world’s leading universities at a ground-breaking school. To see current vacancies at The UCL Academy, please click here.
We hope you are as excited by the opportunity to work here as we are, and we look forward to hearing from you.
