Year 10 Students Take Part in the Girls Robotics Challenge Final

Eight Year 10 students – Alex, Lisa, Laura, Adeelah, Mariam, Emma, Sibelle and Sayama – recently took part in the final of the Girls Robotics Challenge, an inspiring initiative aimed at encouraging more young women to explore pathways into robotics, technology and STEM-related careers.

The competition gave students the opportunity to develop their teamwork, problem-solving and engineering skills through a series of hands-on robotics challenges. Throughout the programme, the team worked collaboratively to design, test and refine solutions, applying both creativity and technical understanding in a fast-paced and engaging environment.

The final event took place at King’s College London, where students joined teams from other schools to showcase their progress and celebrate their achievements. The atmosphere highlighted innovation, collaboration and the importance of increasing representation of young women in STEM fields.

Beyond the competition itself, the Girls Robotics Challenge provided a valuable learning experience, helping students to build confidence in engineering and technology while developing key transferable skills such as communication, resilience and teamwork. It also gave insight into the wide range of opportunities available within robotics, computer science and related industries.

Overall, the experience was both enjoyable and rewarding for Alex, Lisa, Laura, Adeelah, Mariam, Emma, Sibelle and Sayama, leaving them inspired by the possibilities within STEM and proud of what they achieved as part of the challenge.

Year 12 Computer Science Students Attend Exclusive Donmar Warehouse Speaking Masterclass

Year 12 Computer Science Students Attend Exclusive Donmar Warehouse Speaking Masterclass

Some of our Year 12 Computer Science students recently had the exciting opportunity to attend a unique Speaking Masterclass at the prestigious Donmar Warehouse through the London AI Campus. Cedrick, Enesa, Lina and Kabir took part in the session – this was the first masterclass of its kind completed by students anywhere in the UK, making it a particularly rare and valuable experience.

The Donmar Warehouse is widely recognised for its outstanding theatre productions, powerful performances and strong reputation within the creative arts industry. Although the masterclass focused on speaking and performance skills, students found it highly relevant to future careers in technology, leadership and industry.

Throughout the session, students explored how to present ideas clearly, speak with confidence and communicate in a way that truly engages an audience. These skills are especially important in the technology sector, where success depends not only on having innovative ideas, but also on being able to explain them effectively, persuade others and inspire teams towards a shared vision.

The workshop also highlighted the importance of body language, vocal delivery, clarity and confidence in shaping how messages are received. Students learned that strong leadership is not simply about what you say, but how effectively you communicate and connect with others.

The experience demonstrated how skills developed through the arts can directly support students interested in careers in technology, entrepreneurship and leadership. It was an inspiring opportunity that gave students valuable insight into the importance of communication in both creative and professional environments.
