Business
At the UCL academy, students gain an understanding of the main functions of a business with application to real life examples. During their study, they are equipped with the relevant skills to solve a range of problems that businesses may encounter on a day-to-day basis. This is enhanced by meeting real business owners varying from a local to a national scale. By the end of the course, our students feel confident to express how businesses initially start up and can provide suggestions of how they can successfully grow, with suitable references.
Key Stage 4
In Year 1 of the course, students are taught about the stages of enterprise from being an initial idea to a viable business. Students learn about the planning, organising and monitoring required to sell products, in addition to the quantitative and soft skills that are necessary to operate a business.
Year 2 focuses on growing businesses. Students are required to consider the different methods of expansion businesses can pursue and the changes these can have on their marketing, financial and operating strategy. Here, students are required to assess the success of growing businesses, using real life examples of established organisations of the
past and present.
