Families Welcome
As a local community school, the Academy has always welcomed parents and carers, and hopes that they will all become a core part of our friendly community. We are a new school and are gradually developing our Parents’ Association (UAPA) which you can find more information about here.
We work closely with parents and carers and are committed to ensuring smooth lines of communication between school and home. Our weekly e-bulletin is emailed out every Friday afternoon, and then placed on our website for future reference. This is where we also post updated information about uniform, financial support, instrumental lessons and Parent Pay.
We post exciting Academy news on our news page, as well as on our social media pages on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. And we use texts for important reminders and to pass on information about an individual student where necessary.
There is always something going on here for parents and carers to get involved with. We have regular coffee mornings where parents are welcome to come and spend time at the Academy, hear from staff and students and have the opportunity to meet and socialise with other parents. We now host an annual International evening for parents and carers which is very well attended and celebrates our diverse and vibrant school community.
We are increasingly using translation services to support parents and carers from a range of international backgrounds. We also offer classes and sessions for parents to learn about mindfulness, personal and social well-being for their sons and daughters as well as opportunities to visit UCL and occasional cultural opportunities such as visits to the opera and to outstanding orchestral performances from our partners such as the London Philharmonic and the English National Opera.
We are always grateful and thankful for feedback and ideas to support student experiences and we remain hugely grateful to have a parent community who are so committed and supportive of the UCL Academy and the education we are providing here. For instance, we have had increasing involvement and support from parents in developing our self-directed learning programme for students with many improvements based on constructive suggestions and ideas from parents.
